NBRHC is the lead agency and provides the coordination of the Northeast Ontario Blind Low Vision Early Intervention Program. This program provides education and support for parents and caregivers so they can encourage the healthy development of their children.

Services Offered

Children between the ages of 0-6 years diagnosed with blindness or low vision are eligible for family support, intervention and consultative services. These services are offered in the child’s home and childcare settings. Support for child in transitioning to school is also provided.

Family support services are offered to parents when their child has been diagnosed with blindness or low vision and are provided by social workers who have received specialized training.

Intervention services are provided by early childhood vision consultants (ECVC) in the child’s home and they teach parents how to support their child’s development. The ECVC will also help Early Childhood Educators in the early learning center when the child commences these community based programs.
